Creating an Account
Creating an account offers the following benefits:
- Add your company to the TAPPISAFE system
- Create an Administrator Username for managing courses and database access
Types of Usernames:
- Administrator Username: Access to courses and database reports
- Training Username: Access to courses only
Note:
- Individual students do not need their own usernames. Your company can provide a shared Training Username for all students.
- If your company may already have an account, please call 844-930-4877.
- All usernames and passwords must be associated with a company to access TAPPISAFE courses.
- For companies with 10 or more students:
- Create a Training Username to be shared by all students, with each using their own student identifier.
- The Administrator Username manages access to database reports.
- For companies with 10 or fewer students:
- Use the Administrator Username and password for all students, each using their student identifier.
- For suppliers or independent contractors:
- Set up your own account following the regular account creation process.
- Once your account is set up, follow the instructions to begin your online training.
Payment Options:
- A company credit card or invoice can be stored for Training usernames. Alternatively, students can enter their own payment methods.
- If students will use personal credit cards, contact Customer Service to set the option to “no credit card saved.”
- Saved credit card information that is not used within 180 days will be removed from the system.
- Go to: www.tappisafe.org
- Click: “Create an Account”
- Enter your email address and click “Check Availability”
- If available, click Next
- If in use, contact Customer Service at 844-930-4877
- Enter your company information to create a profile and click Next
- If new, select “I don’t know my company’s account number”
- If you believe your company has an account number, call Customer Service
- For self-employed individuals: Enter your name and email in the supervisor fields
- Create an Administrator Username (we suggest using your email for easy recall)
- Set your password and confirm by entering it twice
- Choose a security question and provide the answer
- Select if you need a Training Username:
- Choose this if you manage training for others within your company.
- You’ll be prompted to create a new username and password (e.g., greentech for easy recall).
- Enter your address (work or home) and click Next
- Choose if you’d like to save a credit card on file
- The card will not be visible to others, and you’ll need to enter card info if selected.
- Review and accept terms, then click Complete.
You will receive two emails from the system:
- First email: Confirms your request and informs you that account setup may take up to four hours.
- Second email: Confirms your account setup is complete and you can log in to take courses.
If you do not receive these emails, contact us at info@tappisafe.org.
If you do not receive the second confirmation email:
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- If not found, contact Customer Service at 844-930-4877 or email info@tappisafe.org.
My Account
To access your TAPPISAFE courses, follow these steps:
- Go to: www.tappisafe.org
- Click: Login button in the top right corner
- Click: “Take the Online Training”
- Enter: Your username and password
- Returning students:
- Enter your Student ID number (a unique 9-digit number, e.g., digits from your phone number) and click “Search”
- Confirm your record by selecting “This is me, Continue.” If it’s not your record, click “Back” and re-enter your ID.
- New students:
- Verify your 9-digit number, enter your first and last name, and click “Create Student Record.”
- Select the course(s) you need to take
- Choose a billing method
- Your credit card will not be charged until you complete the course.
If you cannot finish the course in one session, you can sign back in and resume where you left off. We hold bookmarks for up to 24 hours.
- You must enter your Student ID number each time you log in.
- New students: Create a unique 9-digit number (we recommend using your phone number with one digit removed).
- Enter your number and click Search.
- If the number is already in use, try a different one.
- If you made a mistake, click Back to re-enter the correct number.
- Once accepted, confirm the number and enter your name to complete your Student Record.
- If you need help, call 844-930-4877.
Use the Account Recovery Tool to have your username and password emailed to you.
- If you don’t receive the recovery email or the information is not found, call 844-930-4877 for assistance.
Accounts may lock if:
- They haven’t been used in 13 months or more.
- You’ve exceeded the allowed number of login attempts.
- To unlock your account, call 844-930-4877 for assistance.
Courses
TAPPISAFE cannot recommend specific courses, as these vary by site and job requirements.
- Most site-specific courses require TAPPISAFE Basic as a prerequisite.
- Please contact your supervisor to determine which courses you need.
- Exception: International Paper recognizes the TAPPISAFE Basic and IP Site-Specific courses with a 2-year expiration schedule.
- If you perform work at facilities other than International Paper, you will need to maintain your TAPPISAFE Basic yearly to meet the requirements of other locations. Always verify which courses you need to take with your manager or site contact.
- Grace Periods:
All TAPPISAFE courses are valid for 1 year from the date of completion.
60 days to complete the TAPPISAFE Refresher to avoid retaking the full Basic Orientation.
30 days to retake the TAPPISAFE Basic Refresher after expiration.
Yes, TAPPISAFE charges for each completed course attempt.
- If you fail to pass a course, you will need to retake the course and will be charged for the additional attempt.
All course bookmarks are held for 48 hours. If you do not complete the course within 48 hours from the time you started the course, you will have to start over from the beginning. You will not be charged for a course you did not complete.

- Click the green dollar sign next to the course for which you need a receipt.

- Select the number on file or enter the phone number you would like the badge to be delivered to
